The Milwaukee Road's Gleason Line

by Thomas E. Burg

$18.00

Author Tom Burg, well known railroad researcher and local historian, has finished a 52 page book on how Gleason became a hub for the logging industry in the first half of the 20th century - by supplying trainloads of logs, sometimes numerous trains daily, to the main line for transport to the sawmills of Merrill and Wausau. Two different railroads ran three of the four directions from there, and Gleason had servicing facilities for the locomotives based there, including the Milwaukee's Shay Locomotive.

Few signs of this hardworking rail line can be found today, so before its history vanishes entirely, here is the story of the Milwaukee Road's Gleason Line.

The cost of the book includes shipping.
